Lineage of the Mendez Family

Alejandro Charneco Caban (1886) was the son of Basilio Charneco Caban (1854) and Juana Bautista Ruiz Santiago (1857).

Basilio Charneco Caban (1854) was the son of Manuel de los Reyes Charneco Caban (1817) and Rosa Maria Caban.

Manuel de los Reyes Charneco Caban (1817) was the son of Antonio Charneco Sanz and Gregoria Caban Segui.

Antonio was born in either Asturias or Galicia Spain, depending on which family member is asked; Gregoria is from Moca, PR.

Antonio Charneco Sanz was a Sergeant Major in the Spanish Army, he arrived in Moca in 1824 and in 1832-33 he became Vice Alcalde/Sargento Mayor de Moca under Teniente a Guerra/Alcalde Jaime Cedo.

In 1920, Ester Charneco Mendez was living with her grandfather Marcelino Mendez Caban in downtown Moca.
